Landing Pages: Simple or Complex I often talk with people about their websites and what they want from it, what they are trying to do and what the goals are. One thing I notice is that universally people always seem to think that fancier is better. The best online websites for converting often aren't the fancy ones. I have been working on landing pages for a while now and I notice that fancier is not better. This is not universally true as there are some products where we have found a fancier webpage converted better, but I like them plain and old fashioned. I like them right to the point, get the content that you want to state on them and make it simple. I have specialized in online survey sites and have worked with many online survey companies. Many of these companies on their landing pages they are full of flash, videos, etcâ?¦. When working with these companies we have noticed that all the extra time and effort doesn't generally pay off. I tell people when they are first starting out with their website to be quick and to the point. We don't want to spend more than a few hours creating a landing page. We want to create it with whatever thought is in our mind and refine in for the future. The online survey business is big business. The whole country is poll crazy, they want to know what the consumers think, as fashions, trends and ideas change so rapidly. You can imagine that there are tons of survey landing pages all over the web. I say to the survey provider or the survey taker, simpler is better than complex. If you are trying to get people to take your online paid surveys then your site needs to be to the point. There are way too many companies out there providing these services that have fancy expensive websites. I say design it yourself and let the content speak the rest. I have been a member of over 50 survey panels and I often go back and analyze each and every one of their landing pages in order to get new ideas. I hope you found my rant to be somewhat helpful. I don't want to get into the technical aspects of web design, I just want to state the fact that if you are out there and you are a going to make a landing page, make it quick, and make it simple. The online survey world has taught me that don't spend your money or time in things that don't convert. You want to convert, that is the bottom line. Take a look at my website http://ilovesurveys2014.blogspot.com/ and see how simple I like to keep it. Good luck and have fun designing.
