Once you have examined and feel comfortable with registering at a company requesting survey participants, you will be invited to surveys. Some paid survey online companies incentive further through prizes. Every time you participate in one of their surveys you may have the chance to win a prize. Before each such survey you will be informed what you can win.
Each email invitation should tell you how long a survey will take to complete and how long the survey is open. Most surveys are short - about 5-10 minutes - but some are longer. Usually a survey will be open for answers for a period of 4-7 days.
When you elect to join a panel, they will request some personal information about you. This allows them to make sure they invite you to future surveys that are relevant to your profile and that they don't have to ask you the same questions each time candidates are needed complete a survey. The information should only used for statistical purposes or to send you invitations and prizes, so join a reputable organisation for your own protection.
Your best resource to find paid survey online opportunities is undoubtedly the search engines. But don't confine your efforts to a Google search. Try Yahoo, MSN and others as well. Some of my correspondents report real gems from Yahoo which were buried somewhere in the Google mass of results.
Make a list and note any companies that you find dodgy. This will help later when you come across them again and can't remember if you have already tried them - this way you can check up before you waste your time again.
