Taking free online surveys is a great way to earn a little extra cash in your spare time, but it wont have escaped your attention that there are more than a few people out there wanting to rip you off. Just do a quick search on Google for "online survey scam" and you'll find no shortage of results.
So what's it all about then? Is there any truth to the rumours? Well there's no smoke without fire they say so let's take a look at the accusations and try and get to the bottom of it once and for all.
The most common complaint I hear against survey providers is that they don't actually offer any surveys! This is something I hear all the time and there is some truth to it. There are literally hundreds of websites out there purporting to offer paid surveys, but in actual fact there are only about ten or so legitimate providers.
So you may ask, what do all the other sites offer then? Well it's a good question and the answer goes some way to explaining all the scam accusations. Most of them simply offer a list of legitimate survey providers.
Nothing wrong with that in itself, at least they're all in one place. The problem is some of these sites charge you for that list and they entice you to sign up with claims of making thousands of dollars a week with little or no work. Then they simply supply you with a list of survey providers that's available elsewhere for free, like at the end of this article.
And that brings me to the next point, wildly inaccurate income claims. How many times have you seen a site that claims you can make a thousand dollars a week in your spare time from filling in paid surveys? Well I'm here to tell you it's just not true. You can make money from online surveys easily but you're not going to get rich from doing it.
Paid surveys are simply a way of supplementing your income, that's what they were intended for and that's what they do. They're not a career change or income replacement, they're just a great way to earn a little extra money in your spare time.
So if you want to earn some extra cash with paid surveys, what you need to do is join one of the "legitimate" survey providers out there. That's a good place to start as you'll actually be getting some surveys to complete and you can be earning money within a few minutes.
Secondly you need to approach it with the right attitude; this isn't going to make you rich. Most surveys pay around $10 and you could easily complete one a day. Treat it like a hobby and enjoy yourself, its not exactly work after all. Not many people make money from their hobby and it's actually quite an enjoyable thing to do. About the Author
