New products and services need to be tested before they can be sold. Market research companies are using paid online surveys more and more in recent times. This gives them the feedback they need very quickly and is a great way to start making some money in your free time.
The process is quite simple. Survey websites, owned and run by the market research firms, offer incentives or rewards to consumers in return for completing surveys that give them the information they need. The website will have a registration page which asks for details such as your income and background. You will then receive survey invitations via email. Usually the reward and length of the survey are stated in the email so you can decide whether you want to complete it or not.
Rewards vary from site to site. But almost all work on a points scheme whereby each survey pays a number of points; once you have reached a certain points level you can redeem them for a reward. Naturally the majority of people are interested in getting cash for their efforts. A small number of websites do pay cash through Paypal, check or bank transfer. Others pay in vouchers to high street stores or the possibility of getting a big prize with entry into prize draws.
There are a few things you need to be wary about. Firstly, a legitimate survey website should pay you and not the other way around. They need your input and should pay for your time and effort. Any site that asks you for money is most likely a scam. Before you sign up to any survey sites do a little research to find out if it will be worth your while. Check how many surveys you are likely to be sent each month, the payout threshold and any other criteria that you think will affect your success.
